The Price Of Emotions By Lady_Ethiwen

Chapter One: Li Showron Returns

Sakura awoke to the delicious scent of blueberry pancakes in the early morning.

"Mmmmm...such a delightful smell..." she said dreamily.

*RING, RING, RING!*

Her eyes opened slowly. Part of her was still asleep. She sat up on her bed and looked at her alarm clock. It was five minutes before 7:00 AM.

"Why am I up so early?" she thought.

Then she remembered and smiled excitedly.

"Oh yeah!" she thought, Li's coming back today...but...only for a while..."

This made her feel a bit depressed. She hasn't seen Li for three whole years. It's amazing how Li still remembered her phone number. She was surprised to hear Li's voice for the first time in years. Sakura got out of bed and got dressed for the day. She put on a blue blouse and a matching white skirt and white knee high socks. Kero floated out of his sleeping drawer. He yawned as he rubbed his sleepy little eyes.

"S-Sakura..." he said as he looked at the clock, "what time is it? Why are you up so early?"

He sniffed the air.

"And what is that delightful aroma?" he asked as he licked his lips.

"It's just past seven in the morning, Li's coming back today and Dad's making blueberry pancakes I believe," Sakura replied as she fixed her hair.

"Mmmm...blueberry pancakes?! ALRIGHT!!" Kero jumped in excitement, "wait, did you say that the kid's coming back?"

"Yeah," Sakura answered, "but only for a month...Then he's going back.."

"Oh..." Kero said, "I wonder what he looks like now..."

Sakura goes to her desk and grabs her bag, but decides to leave it there.

"Good morning Star Cards," she said and smiled.

She remembered all of the trouble she went through transforming all of the Clow Cards into Star Cards. It drained so much energy from her. But it was all worth it in the end. She was the new master of the cards.

"Well, I better get going," Sakura said, "see you later Kero."

"WAIT!" Kero yelled, "what about my breakfast?"

"Don't worry," she said, "I'll bring you some in a few minutes."

"AWESOME!" he said with happiness.

"Be right back!" Sakura said as she left her room.

Sakura went downstairs to the kitchen. The smell of the pancakes grew stronger.

"Good morning Dad!" Sakura said cheerfully.

"You're in a good mood this morning," her father said, "is it because Li's coming back?"

"Yup! It's been so long too."

"Well, tell him I said hi," her father said, "better eat up, Sakura, you wouldn't want to be late."

Sakura nodded as she took her place next to Tori, her older brother.

"Morning!" she said as she helped herself to a few pancakes, "mmmm...these smell wonderful Dad!"

Sakura began eating her breakfast. The pancakes tasted better than she expected.

Kero's going to love this!" she thought and smiled.

"So, the brat's coming back, eh?" Tori said and smirked.

Sakura's perfect morning was ruined by her brother, as usual.

"He's not a brat! Why can't you accept him as a friend?" Sakura asked angrily.

"Tori..." Sakura's dad said sternly.

Sakura gave her brother a cold look. She grabbed a few more pancakes and headed to her room to finish breakfast.

"That Tori..." Sakura said as she headed up the stairs.

"Ahh..smells delicious!" Kero said as he put a giant piece into his mouth.

While Kero was eating, Sakura packed her bag. She was still angry at her brother.

"Sakura!" her dad yelled, "Madison's here!"

"Coming!" Sakura yelled back.

"Don't forget the picnic basket!" he yelled.

Kero looked up.

"You're going to have a picnic?" he asked, practically begging to come.

"yeah," Sakura replied, "we're having a picnic lunch with Meilin and Li."

"The girl's coming too?"

"Yeah, you know how close Li and Meilin are."

Sakura picks up the breakfast dishes, grabs her bag and heads out the door.

"Stay out of trouble Kero," Sakura said, "I'll be home later."

"Oh, I will," Kero thought as he flew out the door, following Sakura as quietly as he could.

Sakura went into the kitchen, put the dishes in the sink, made a face at Tori, and grabbed the picnic basket. She goes and greets Madison. While Sakura and Madison were talking about their week-end, Kero flew into Sakura's backpack, without her noticing.

"Picnic lunch, here I come!" Kero thought exicitedly with a huge grin on his face.

Sakura and Madison both headed to the main airport via Madison's private transportation.

At the airport, Sakura and Madison waited for Li and Meilin's plane to arrive. Sakura looked at the big screen that had the schedule on it. It turns out the the next plane will be arriving right now. She hoped that it was the right one. In order to pass the time, Madison and Sakura played a game of cards. Just when Sakura was about to draw the next card, she heard a familiar voice calling their names.

"Sakura! Madison! Over here!" it yelled happily.

Sakura looked and saw Meilin waving at them.

"It's Meilin!" Sakura said happily.

Sakura and Madison ran towards Meilin. Sakura gives Meilin a welcoming hug.

"Wow Meilin! You're taller than me now! It's been a while, huh?" Sakura asked.

"Yeah, it sure has," Meilin replied, "hey Madison! Long time no see!"

Meilin and Madison had a lot of catching up to do. They were pretty close friends after all. They talked while Sakura looked for Li. She saw Li coming up on the escalator.

"Hey Li!" Sakura said and waved.

Li looked up and blushed lightly. He waved back.

"Li was really quiet throughout our flight," Meilin whispered to Madison.

"Really?" Madison asked, "do you know why?"

Meilin shook her head.

"I have no idea," she whispered back.

Once Li got to the top, Sakura gave him a warm, welcoming hug. Li blushed even more.

"Oh Li, just look at you," Sakura said, "you look so much taller now. It's been quite a while since I last saw you."

"Y-yeah it has..." he replied and smiled.

"Well, come on! Let's go have lunch!" Sakura said, "it's been quite hours since I last ate."

"Yeah, let's go!" Meilin said excitedly, "the plane food wasn't very great anyways."

They all left, happy to see each other again. Even if it was for a short time, Sakura wanted to make the most of it. They all left to find the closest park to eat lunch and catch up on their lives.
